Yoga is a personal journey.
Enjoy your exploration of yoga, and welcome the growth that comes with practice.
Here are some important points to keep in mind:
Before class:
Arrive at least 5-10 minutes before class starts so you can relax and settle in
Bringing your own mat is more hygienic and ensures you are comfortable with the material.
Keep a hand towel and water bottle with you
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion.
It is best to practice yoga on an empty stomach, but you may eat a light snack or fruit before your practice
Consistency is Key
Like any other practice, regularity enhances the benefits of yoga. Try to maintain a consistent schedule, even if some days you can only do a little.
Keep an open mind
Yoga is more than just physical postures; it also includes Pranayama, meditation (dhyana), and principles of conduct. Some of these practices may be new to you, approach these with an open mind. They’re part of the holistic experience of yoga.
During Class
Stay Present
Please keep your phones on silent and your mind focused on your practice.
Alignment Matters
Pay attention to your instructor's cues and make adjustments as recommended to prevent injuries and to get the most benefit from each pose.
Breathe is Everything
Breath through your nose (not your mouth) and coordinate your breath with the movements.
Practice Patience
Progress in yoga can be slow and subtle. Be patient with yourself. Celebrate the small victories and understand that yoga is a lifelong journey, not a destination.
Seek Guidance When Needed
If you’re unsure about a pose or feel discomfort, ask your instructor for help or a modification. They're there to support your practice and ensure your safety.
